Archipelagos in Ancient Olympia for the Eco-Festival at Alfios River

Due to the destructive fires last year in Ilia, this summer was the first time that a festival devoted to the protection of the region’s natural environment and the strengthening of social cohesion took place.

The NGO “Alfeios – Ecology and Culture Activities” organised a five day event where various organizations and members of the public could meet. This offered them an opportunity to view and experience Alfeios’ natural environment through various activities. Information points on environmental issues aimed to highlight the importance of NGO involvement and volunteering for the preservation, protection and promotion of the region of Alfeios after the devastation of the fire, highlighting the management of sustainable water resources.

Archipelagos travelled to Alfeios to take part in the environmental awareness activities with the desire to contribute as much as possible to the effort of finding solutions for the major environmental problems of the Greek marine and terrestrial environment.
